The Navy Foundation is an umbrella organisation for serving retired Indian Naval officers and was formed on 27 Dec 1988.
It’s primary charter is:
- An apolitical & secular organisation
- Maintain contact & fraternal relationship between Naval veterans
- In event of wars, calamities will place veterans at the disposal of government
- Carry out charitable, social, philanthropic, cultural, educational & other activities for the benefit of retired fraternity.
The Navy Foundation office bearers are as follows:-
- Ex-Officio President - CNS
- Ex-Officio Vice President - CPS
- Ex-Officio Secretary – Cmde (ESM Affairs)
- Ex-Officio Treasurer – Cmde (NPF)
- Ex-Officio Legal Advisor - JAG (Navy)
The Chennai charter is a regional branch of it’s parent body, The Navy Foundation. It was established in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 15 Feb 1990.
